Minutes of Meeting of Dowsby Parish Council

Held 16th September, 2021, 7.30p.m. at Village Hall, Main Road, Dowsby.

972      CHAIRMANS REMARKS: Village hall anniversary in July was very good.

973      APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: None

974      DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST: None

975      REPORTS FROM REPRESENTATIVES OF OUTSIDE BODIES -

J. Dixon gave a summary of activities in the village hall. There was a very successful centenary celebration in July with stocks, a magician and a centenary tree donated by Christopher Chambers. The plans for the renovation of the front door caused some concern to one resident and so the proposal was circulated to the whole village from whom there were no further objections. The work will proceed in due course. Original door furniture will be retained and reinstated on the new door. Thanks were given to the Parish Council for the donation towards this work.

Village hall Facebook page would still be a suitable place to post parish council information.

976      NOTES OF MEETING 17th May 2021 were approved as Minutes.  Proposed Cllr. V. Barker, seconded by Cllr. J. Dixon.

977     CLERK’S REPORT ON MATTERS OUTSTANDING

977.1   Playground inspection – this has not happened this year yet. Clerk to follow up to check what the status is.

977.2   Riparian Waterway survey – Contact from the Floodrisk department at LCC invited the council to complete a survey. After reviewing the survey, the councillors felt it was not relevant for the parish and beyond the resources of the council to support. Clerk to respond.

977.3   Sandbags – In February, Cllr. Peter Moseley offered the parish council some free sandbags and sand to be made available for villagers to use in the event of heavy raining and risk of flooding. In the last week a delivery has been arranged. Clerk to follow.

Item 13 was of particular interest for Cllr. Dixon for next year.

981      MATTERS OF AN URGENT NATURE

Cllr. Barker informed the meeting that an accident involving a motorcycle on the Fen Road after the double bends highly likely to be related to the uneven condition of the highway. Clerk to report to highways on the LCC website.
