Minutes of Meeting of Dowsby Parish Council

Held Thursday 13th November, 2025, 7.30p.m. at Village Hall, Main Road, Dowsby.

 

Present:                                 Cllrs. C. Chambers; G. Ridgway; V. Barker;

Members of the public:     None

 

1148    CHAIRMANS REMARKS: The new children’s care home was visited by Cllrs Chambers and Ridgway and gave a good impression. It will be interesting to see how it develops as children become resident there.

            Anglian Water are monitoring water in the drains along Fen road.

1152    NOTES OF MEETING 15th May 2025 were approved as Minutes.  Proposed Cllr. G. Ridgway, seconded by Cllr. V. Barker.

 

1153    CLERK’S REPORT ON MATTERS OUTSTANDING

1153.1 Clerks job description and contract have been prepared by Cllr Ridgway in order to address some of the items from internal audit. Need to be checked and finalised. Clerk to follow.

1153.2 A traffic survey has been carried out in the village and the results have been obtained. Initial indications are that there is that the average speeds are higher and so further action could be justified like active signs. To be followed.

1153.3 The internal auditor Mrs V. M. Free has offered to complete the Internal Audit again this year. All agreed to accept the offer.

1153.4 Cllr Ridgway leafleted the village advertising the 2 councillor vacancies.

1153.5 Two residents expressed an interest in joining in the council. Both were accepted. Clerk to follow up with co-option and invite them to the next meeting.

            After the meeting another resident contacted the clerk wishing to join the council. It was agreed via email to extend co-option to this person as well.

            Cllr Ridgway announced that he would be moving away in the New Year and that the meeting in February would be his last.

1157    MATTERS OF AN URGENT NATURE

1157.1 Cllr Ridgway observed that there was not an emergency kit available in the defibrillator case. All agreed to purchase one. Clerk to action.
